Play or Prey
In the wilderness, only the most terrible beasts cavort and gambol. Deer and rabbits play no games. -Neal Stephenson, Quicksilver

The Next War: For The Watery Wealth
The official term is "water commerce." Read excerpts below:
President Bush hadn’t been in office eight months when he first mused in public about bringing Canadian water to the American Southwest. And no sooner had 2006 begun than former U.S. ambassador Paul Cellucci told a Canadian audience that their resistance to selling water south was “odd.”
Canada has 20 percent of all the world’s fresh water, to slake the thirsts and irrigate the crops of only 0.5 percent of the world’s population. -if water is going to become as scarce as the United Nations suggests, the forecasters who predict that water will be “the next oil” -- the resource that nations go to war over -- could be right. And keeping it from all those thirsty billions would become morally as well as geo-politically untenable. - American Prospect

Thus Flow The Words
Poem from Britney Spear's website:
“No more chains/ That you gave me/ Enough of pain/ Manipulation is the key,” read the poem in part. “They screw it in/ Because you’re naïve/You come to me now/ Why do you bother?/ Remember the Bible/ The sins of the father/ What you do/ You pass down/ No wonder why/ I lost my crown/ You don’t see me now/ You ask yourself why my crown is back/ And it’s way too high/ For you to be in my presence/ Especially my son/ You should bow down/ I’ve only just begun.”
Well it ain't Shakespeare, but it's good to know Britney isn't in total denial. Brit's website has now taken down the poem, but it's posted on The Scoop.

Please tell me this is a LIE!
From the NY Post:
May 25, 2006 -- "When I was 10 years old, we'd pick out a cow and boom! They'd hit it in the head with a hammer, lift it up by the back legs, and skin it in front of us. Then I'd take the head home and make soup" - Wilmer Valderrama on life before "That '70s Show" in Maxim.
I don't care if this is his attempt to claim he grew-up living off the land because his cavalier attitude and total disregard for life is disgusting. This guys seems to just be digging his hole deeper and deeper. Now, not only does most of the female population think he's scum, pet owners and animal lovers think so too. I'm not preaching vegeatrianism here at all kids, but there is a humane way to kill animals for food and an unspoken understanding to be grateful and respectful....just ask the Native Americans who lived off the land and specifically the buffalo for hundreds of years while ensuring never to abuse the delicate balance of the natural world.

UN-happy ending
From the NY Post:
May 25, 2006 -- THE British sex scandal that tarred Kevin Costner - a masseuse claims the actor pleasured himself during a massage while on his honeymoon - may have taken its toll on the star's marriage. According to Us Weekly, Costner's wife of less than two years, Christine Baumgartner, is furious and is now living separately. The mag says Costner told Baumgartner he would do anything to save his marriage. A rep for the couple denies friction. There could be another reason the two are living apart - they recently sold their Hollywood home for a bigger one in Santa Barbara, and Baumgartner is overseeing the move while Costner films a movie in Louisiana.

Speak, Woman!
So we haven't heard a peep out of Katie "Kate" Holmes in months, and I'd assumed Tom Cruise had cowed her into submission with all his Scientology "lie-detector" tests or had just sewn her mouth shut with gooey luv-gum. I admit, I feel bad for her. Poor little birdie in a gilded cage of crazy.
Fortunately, some confidante of hers snuck over to Life & Style Weekly and is quoted as saying “Katie’s very unhappy and beginning to realize she may have made a major mistake being with Tom.” Speak, Katie-Kate, speak! Women do that, you know. Tis your right to have an OPINION, not just a smile...

OhMiGawd
I can't believe the Veteran's Affairs Agency kept the theft of IDENTITY DATA secret for 2 weeks. Inconscionable. Two weeks during which those affected were kept in the dark, unable to make any damn defensive moves to keep their identities safe. I'm sick, I'm sick reading this.
